梅雨入り前の静かな時間／A Quiet Moment Before the Rainy Season

６月に入り、そろそろ梅雨の気配がしてきました。

It’s now June, and you can almost feel the rainy season approaching.
雨が降ったかと思えば晴れ間がのぞき、空気には少しずつ湿気が混じってきています。
Some days are sunny, others are rainy, and the air is beginning to carry a hint of humidity.
まさに「走り梅雨」——本格的な梅雨の前触れのような時期です。
In Japan, we call this early pattern of rain “hashiri-tsuyu”—a sign that the real rainy season is just around the corner.
梅雨の前後は、気温や湿度の変化が激しく、体調を崩しやすい時期でもあります。だからこそ、心も体も整える時間を持ちたいですね。
Around this time of year, changes in temperature and humidity can easily affect our physical condition.That’s why it’s so important to take time to care for both your body and your mind.
こんな時こそ、少し立ち止まり、自分の内側と向き合う静かな時間を持ってみませんか？
So, why not slow down for a moment and reconnect with yourself?
私は、この時期になると、お気に入りの茶器でお茶を淹れ、小さな和菓子を一つ選び、ゆっくりと一文字を書く時間を楽しんでいます。
During this season, I enjoy making a cup of tea in my favourite teacup, choosing a small wagashi (Japanese sweet), and spending a few quiet minutes writing a single character by hand.
雨が降る日には、雨音を聞きながら書くのもおすすめです。静かに墨をすり、筆を運ぶと、気持ちが整っていくのを感じます。
On a rainy day, writing while listening to the sound of raindrops brings a special sense of calm. Grinding the ink and moving the brush slowly helps to centre the mind.
この季節にぴったりの言葉は、「静」「雨」「潤」「滴」「青」「しっとり」など。湿り気を帯びた空気の中で書く文字には、また違った趣があります。
Some seasonal words I recommend writing are: 静 (quiet), 雨 (rain), 潤 (moisture), 滴 (drop), 青 (blue/green), and しっとり (gently damp). The moisture in the air gives a unique feeling to every stroke of the brush.
まもなくやってくる梅雨。心を整える季節として、少しだけ楽しみにしてみてはいかがでしょうか。
