Cold Dew

Wednesday: nature and seasons
From the 8th of October, we enter Kanro — one of the 24 solar terms. It marks the point in the year when the dew that settles in the mornings and evenings begins to feel cold.
Two weeks ago was Shuubun — the autumn equinox, the midpoint of autumn (though it still felt as though autumn had barely begun). And now already, the dew is cold. The season moves quietly but doesn't wait.
The nijuushi sekki — the 24 solar terms — divides each of the four seasons into six, with each period lasting about two weeks. It was originally used as a practical guide for farming, and today it still serves as a way of staying attuned to the subtle shifts of the year.
Here in the Kanto region, we've finally been getting the clear, crisp autumn skies that feel truly seasonal. Some afternoons are still warm enough to feel almost like summer — but mornings and evenings have turned noticeably cool.
What kind of autumn are you having where you are?
